Celebrating the past, shaping the future
This year Musgrave celebrates its 150th anniversary. The story begins with two young brothers, Thomas and Stuart, who started Musgrave Brothers from a small premises off Main Street in Cork in 1876. They built a business on simple, demanding values: honesty, hard work, long-term relationships, achievement and not being greedy.
The Musgrave business has an illustrious history, yet its aspirations have always been forward-looking. Immerse yourself in the history of this entrepreneurial, innovative and sustainable company which still lives by its values 150 years since it was founded.

It is a privilege to be part of a company founded on enterprise, constant innovation and a commitment to excellence. Ours is a story of never standing still: from counter-service to self‑service; from the VG voluntary group that championed independents to today’s SuperValu and Centra; from early cash‑and‑carry to MarketPlace, Ireland’s leading wholesale partner to hospitality. Through each shift, one principle held: growth never at the cost of doing the right thing. That is as true in how we treat partners and colleagues as it is in how we serve communities.
